When I asked TJ what he wanted to do for his birthday his answer (after careful deliberation) was that he wanted to take his dog to the beach so he could go swimming for the first time.
After researching places we COULD take the dog in the area for a day at the beach and factoring in that this is Memorial Day Weekend… we came up with a plan that would enable him to take his dog swimming for the first time AND still let TJ enjoy a fun day at the beach.
Early this morning we packed up the kennel in the old truck and headed down to Mobile Bay. We found a small public beach area that was dog friendly. Or not anti-dog?
I thought he might take a tiny bit of coaxing to get in the water. Just the whole ‘slightly cautious’ thing going on? Er, no, not so much. He went straight in.
Typical Mobile Bay… it was super shallow. So the boys had to go out deep enough so he could stop bunny hopping along. He was hopping… and then all of a sudden swimming along.
It was pretty cool. I gotta admit.
He’s one tired pup now! Barking most of the way there and back as he rode in the kennel in the truck WAS amusing. I told the boys he was singing ‘Jingle Bells’… now that I think about it, DUH, he was singing ‘Happy Birthday to TJ!’
