Deep Sea Fishing

Thanks to a deal on Living Social a while back e and I were able to take the boys deep sea fishing today on the Emerald Spirit.

Getting up at 4 a.m. was a tad painful for me, but totally worth it.

We arrived at Sportsman Marina at the appointed time… and promptly realized it was all ‘hurry up and wait’… but that’s okay. Good company made it pass quickly. And we got to see the beautiful sunrise as well. *Pssssst, next time Bailey’s in my coffee.

Eventually we headed out to sea after a super quick detour to catch some bait.

Took about two hours to get to the first spot… so I passed the time getting pictures and concentrating on NOT getting seasick.

Some previously frozen bait fish… that amused us as an art form as they thawed.

When we got to the first spot there were hardly any bites at all. The first was a guy who obviously fished often. He had his own rods and his own bait. It was a decent Red Snapper. And then TJ pulled up his monster.

Yeh, the boy got that up all by himself. I was impressed!

After TJ’s fish was in we skipped around to a few different spots until we hit the one were mass chaos ensued. And that’s why I have no pictures. We were too busy helping boys and pulling in our own lines to get any photos. But it seemed like we’d hit the limit for the boat in practically no time at all. And it was time to head back in.

All the boys fell asleep.

Once we had our clean fish… we were outta there.

Great time. So glad we were able to take the boys out!
