We found 32 Portuguese Man o’ War on the beach today. When we plopped down on the beach Tommy asked: is that a bag or a bottle? I was busy trying to keep the mat from flying away and didn’t pay much attention. When I sat down I began to wonder why there were so many blue tinted bottles laying around… blue bottle… blue bottle… BLUE BOTTLE?! Yeh, it finally clicked that is ‘bluebottle’ is another name for this creature. The colors were amazing. But I’m so glad we had our shoes on. We were VERY wary the whole time. The boys remembered the story of my encounter with a dead one in the water before. OUCH.
The pocket kite… thanks for letting us borrow it, PopPop!
BP still on the job… (All those golf carts are workers cleaning up… they must have found a spot of oil just a bit east of us, there were over 20 carts there by the time we left.)
No, it wasn’t windy… not at ALL.
Then we went looking for the bike trail.
As we were heading back to Fairhope I looked out my window to spot this little guy by a ditch. So we pulled over for a picture, of course.
A really great way to spend a day off from school.
