Walk Through… completed
Thanks to Rick for helping Tim check out the new place. They said the list of things to be completed was not overwhelming… and nothing major.
Note the cool metal roof is nearly complete over the front porch and beyond. Still need some mulch in the one bed. And the wood trim and railing needs to be stained to match the front door.
So… yep. Sounds like we’re on track for closing soon. Yay.
Randomness
Really, no other title impressed itself upon me… so ‘Randomness’ it shall be.
_______________
So, I sent Tim on a wild goose chase for Risotta the other day. (Hard to find in South Alabama… who knew?) And after he found it… yeh, I never cooked it for him. (Bad wife, I know… shhh.)
But since I have it on hand now…I’m thinking of making this recipe for Mushroom Risotta tonight. Why? Eh, because I can. Sounds good? I got nothing.

Thanks to Uncle Dan, TJ found himself hooked on Invader Zim on his recent trip to Atlanta. Uncle Jeff found out and hooked the boy UP. Currently I am copying a few episodes at a time over to the iPrecious. The boys are both giddy with anticipation. Bless their little hearts. THEY ARE DRIVING ME NUTS!
So, while they waited, they wanted to share this clip. It’s absurdly silly and childish… and quite funny. (They’ve warped me… I love it.)

Yesterday on the way to Red Shoe I had four tweens trying to belt out ‘Popular’ from ‘Wicked‘. (Yup, you’re all over this post J, get over it… thanks for the soundtrack.) Only one girl actually knew the words (sorta), so it was quite amusing.
I love that they are into a musical. You have NO idea. I’ll listen to a musical over Jonas Brothers ANY day.
There is a cool looking musical theatre class over at Ballet Austin this summer. Hmmmmm. Might be good for my girl.

And finally…
Yesterday at the new house they were putting up the fence. And they also did the back splash. It’s looking good.
Tim is doing the walk through on Monday. And he has the trailer set for moving June 1st. Thanks for taking care of all the planning, Tim.

And that is the randomness for the day.
Thanks for the updated house pics, Uncle Rick.
We’re getting down to the details now…
Tim says:
They completed 2 small planters by the front steps and hung the mantle. The house was locked up, so sorry about the bad picture.
Hmmmm, he’s not kidding about those planters being so small. I’ll have to figure out what I’m going to put in there once the railing is up I guess?
So… the plan as it stands right now:
- Estimated date of closing is May 22nd
- Tim will get the hardwood/carpet (maybe plantation shutters?!!<— okay, fine that is crazy wishful thinking) installed the week of 25-29.
- Tim head on out to AL to load up the trailer with friends that weekend of the 30/31
- Kids and I will relocate to the green house for two weeks
- Tim and friends can unload trailer in Austin the weekend of June 6/7
- Tori will return from her youth group trip to Atlanta on June 10th
- Kids and I will arrive in our new home town on June 11th and see the house in person for the first time. Added bonus: beds in place (Less drama for the kids, we like that)
- And we’ll be partying on the 12th with the Smith Family and Friends
If you are an able bodied adult, live within 30 miles of a house on either end of the move, and read this blog… please consider yourself invited to the appropriate loading or unloading of the trailer. K?! We’ll bring pizza and cold beer along. Promise.
Tired
I am oh-so-very-tired… and it is just after 4 over here.
I need a nap!!
Jane took a much needed break with some friends on a women’s retreat this weekend. So we have Miss Molly for the weekend. Today she had a dance duet up in Malbis. I was cracking up at myself trying to do the makeup like she needed. At least Molly was a great sport about it? I decided Jane does a MUCH better job on the makeup than I do for SURE. Hmmmmm, maybe she’ll do Tori’s for the recital. Jane?!!!
A few pics of the afternoon that amused me:
Ummmm… there is a STRONG spray of water coming up where that little boy is sitting. He sat there for 20 minutes straight. He made me laugh.
Boys loved this… of course.
After a few hours of fun in the sun (we did eventually score a table with an umbrella, so not super bad), I made good on promises to the boys. (Yes, fine I bribed the good behavior with promises of visits to places they love!) Barnes and Noble and Bass Pro Shop.
Could have been worse? Tori wasn’t with us because she was being Mother’s Helper for the neighbor down at the Earth Day festivities at the Fairhope Pier.
A few errands on the way home… and now we are all ready to nap.
Alas, tons more to do.
TJ has been begging for rice noodles and shrimp. (To Tommy’s disgust.)
Found a basic brown sauce recipe over on this blog.
Basic Chinese Brown Sauce
In a measuring cup, combine:
- 1/4 c. (or less) soy sauce
- 1/2 c. water
- 0.5 – 1 Tbl. grated ginger
- 1 tsp. chopped garlic (1 clove)
- 1 Tbl. cornstarch
- 1 Tbl. molasses
Basic Directions:
1) Cook any meat first. Remove it from the pan.
2) Stir-fry your veggies.
3) Mix up all the sauce ingredients in a measuring cup.
4) Add a few pieces of hot veggies to the measuring cup to pre-heat the cornstarch.
5) Dump all the sauce into the pan with the veggies (and add the meat back, if using) and bring to a boil.
6) Simmer for a minute or two until the sauce is clear and thickened.
Hopefully we’ll have a tasty (and easy) dinner. We’ll see?
And of course I can’t do a post without new house news. Tim went floor shopping today. (Long story short, the place we were going to use to put in the hardwood and carpet post-closing went under — or almost under? So, Tim needed to shop so the flooring will be in BEFORE the furniture arrives from Alabama.) He sent over a couple of pics. I really like the dark hardwood with the different widths. Carpet? Long as it can handle our traffic, I’m good.
And that is our Saturday so far.
Will someone PLEASE take a nap for me? I still have to work my hours after dinner.
Oy!
PS Just for s&g today I kept a running tally of how many times people remarked about my dark hair and the kids’ blond hair (yes, Molly isn’t technially mine, but I claim her none-the-less)…
EIGHT TIMES.
People are rude.
