Random bits from today

Today TJ had his orthodontist appointment. Always fun. The good news is that we’re totally done paying for his braces. YAY. Bad news is they will not be ready to come off when we move to Austin. Oh well… guess a trip back to Fairhope in July is going to be on the books. (Darn!)

The weather was gorgeous when I arrived 30 minutes early to pickups at Tommy’s school. So, thanks to a gift card Tim left for me (yay!), I sat outside of Gene’s Beans and enjoyed a coffee while reading on the Kindle. (I ♥ the Kindle, by the way. It is awesome.)

After school the kids and I did a quick grocery run. I used my Grocery Gadget App for the first time. It’s pretty darn cool. Had the list set up, and TJ just checked things off the list on the iPrecious as I put them in the cart. Of course I kept annoying him by getting things not on the list. Except… we forgot wine for me. Boo. BIG BOO!!!

For dinner we had a new recipe debut of Chicken Gyros. For some reason the kids haven’t had Gyros before? Huh. (Guess Tim and I hog them as a treat when we get them?) At any rate: they will be a repeat for sure. I was shocked to get a big thumbs up from all three kids. I sorta made up my own recipe. But this one is similar if you want to give it a go. I used real Greek style yogurt to avoid needing to strain and added garlic to the sauce. And yes, I was dorky and used parchment paper.

And finally, in new house news as per Tim on the scene:

They installed the correct kitchen cabinets, vents, door and bathroom hardware and other various small jobs like the half bath door

And now, I think we’ll call it a day.
